  • N.Y. to reveal third designated player Tuesday

Secaucus, NJ (Sports Network) - Red Bull New York, which recently added French star Thierry Henry as its second designated player, announced Saturday it will reveal a third designated player Tuesday at Red Bull Arena.

Juan Pablo Angel and Henry, who is expected to make his Major League Soccer debut Saturday night at the Houston Dynamo, are New York's other designated players. MLS teams can have a maximum of three designated players.

Mexican Rafael Marquez, a teammate of Henry's at Barcelona, has been reported to be New York's next signing, although it has not been confirmed. Marquez did officially leave Barcelona on Saturday, ending his seven-year stint in Spain.

"I think my time here has come to an end - I've always been ambitious and I want to be a regular starter. That can't happen here, so it's a good time to leave with my head held high and start a new challenge," Marquez said on Barcelona's website.

Marquez, a center back or defensive midfielder, has played nearly 100 matches for Mexico and is the captain of the national team. The 31-year-old has been a member of Mexico's national team since 1997.
