IndyCar returns to U.S. with Mid-Ohio

After running its last two races in Canada, the IZOD IndyCar Series returns to the United States with this weekend's Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

Mid-Ohio is the eighth of nine road/street course events on this year's schedule.

Trucks make second trip to Nashville this season

For the first time this year, the Camping World Truck Series will run at Nashville Superspeedway twice in the same season. Nashville picked up a second date for the 2010 truck season when the track's owner, Dover Motorsports, announced last October the closure of its Memphis property.

The series traditionally has competed at Nashville in the summer time. During the first weekend in April, Kyle Busch spent his Sprint Cup off-week by winning the truck event here. He will not compete in Saturday night's race due to his Cup and Nationwide Series obligations at Watkins Glen, NY.

Ambrose aiming for Watkins Glen trifecta

The Nationwide Series will join Sprint Cup this weekend at Watkins Glen International.

This will be the second of three road course races for Nationwide this year. Carl Edwards won the inaugural event at the Road America road course in Wisconsin two months ago. Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal is scheduled for August 29.

Castroneves penalized for post-race outburst at Edmonton

Castroneves was penalized for refusing to follow the direction of race officials and unsportsmanlike conduct when he engaged in a heated altercation with two officials on pit lane after the conclusion of the race.

IndyCar officials met with Castroneves on Sunday in Indianapolis to discuss his actions.

Roush upgraded to fair condition at Mayo Clinic

Roush Fenway Racing released an update on Roush's condition on Monday. The 68- year-old is recovering from facial injuries he sustained in a plane crash last week in Oshkosh, WI. There has been no timetable set for his release from the hospital.

Roush was involved in a crash while attempting to land his plane at Wittman Regional Airport. He had flown to Oshkosh for the Experimental Aircraft Association's annual AirVenture air show.

Time to take the danger zone out of Pocono

With 36 laps remaining in Sunday's 500-mile race at Pocono, Jimmie Johnson tapped Kurt Busch from behind. Busch hit the outside wall, slid down the track and then spun on the wet, grassy area along the backstretch before plowing into the inside guardrail. It had rained at Pocono prior to the start of the race.

Sadler, who won the inaugural Truck Series race at Pocono on Saturday, got caught up in the accident when he was hit from behind, as he was slowing down to avoid hitting Busch. Sadler slammed head-on into the guardrail after sliding on the grass at a high speed.

Webber captures points lead with Hungarian GP win

Webber grabbed the lead when Vettel, the pole sitter, and Ferrari's Fernando Alonso pitted early in the 70-lap race. Then Vettel's drive-through penalty for a safety-car rule infringement helped Webber to claim his fourth victory of the season and the sixth of his F1 career.

Alonso finished second, while Vettel, who was furious with race officials over his penalty, settled for third.

Busch dominant in Nationwide win at Iowa

Bayne wins third consecutive Nationwide pole

Bayne's qualifying lap of 133.266 m.p.h. not only made him the first driver in 18 years to score three consecutive Nationwide poles, but he also became the youngest driver to do it at age 19. Jeff Gordon last accomplished the feat in the series in 1992.

Kyle Busch, who is one of eight drivers attempting the Pocono/Iowa combo this weekend, grabbed the outside pole after posting a lap of 133.007 m.p.h.

Sadler earns first truck win at Pocono

Just after the restart for the first two-lap overtime finish, Sadler got a push from behind by Justin Lofton and moved ahead of Kahne to take the lead. Johnny Sauter got loose and bumped into Ron Hornaday Jr., as Hornaday spun around and then slammed into the infield wall in turn three. That set up the second green-white-checkered attempt.

Sadler easily pulled away from Kahne after the final restart and beat his Richard Petty Motorsports teammate in the Sprint Cup Series by 0.45 seconds for his first truck win in his eighth start.

Sadler tops Kahne for Pocono truck pole

Sadler, the last driver to make his qualifying attempt in the 38-truck field, knocked his fellow Sprint Cup Series competitor Kasey Kahne from the top spot after posting a lap of 162.602 m.p.h. He claimed his first career truck pole in his seventh start.

"It was tough, and it was fun," Sadler said. "I got a little free through there, but [turn] three was fast." The series revised its qualifying format for Pocono, with Friday's practice speeds determining the qualifying order. The slowest truck went first, and the fastest, which was Sadler, came out last. Trucks were released in 25-second increments.

Vettel grabs pole for Hungarian GP

Vettel set a blistering lap of one minute, 18.773 seconds around the 2.722- mile, 16-turn Hungaroring course for his seventh pole of the season and the 12th of his Formula One career. Red Bull continued its domination in qualifying this season by claiming its 11th pole in the first 12 grand prix.

"It was a very good day for us," Vettel said. "All weekend here we felt very comfortable from the first practice session onwards with the car. I think we were able to improve on it again a little bit overnight." Vettel was 0.4 seconds quicker than Webber. It's the sixth all front row for Red Bull this year.

Stewart tops in qualifying at Pocono

Stewart, a two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, turned a lap of 171.393 m.p.h. around the 2.5-mile triangular track for his second pole of the season and the 14th of his Cup career. His first pole at Pocono came in July 2000.

Last night, Stewart competed in the All-Star Circuit of Champions sprint car event in Fargo, ND. He arrived at Pocono in the early hours of Friday morning.

Crew chief Letarte extends contract with HMS

Letarte and HMS made the announcement Friday at Pocono Raceway, the site of this weekend's Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500.

"I'm extremely excited," the 31-year-old Letarte said. "Hendrick Motorsports is the only company I've ever received a paycheck from. I've worked here since I was a teenager, and they've provided wonderful opportunities for me. I owe a lot to them. I'm really excited to be extended here so I can go a few more years." HMS promoted Letarte to Gordon's crew chief in September 2005 when then crew chief Robbie Loomis departed the team and took a position with Petty Enterprises.

Hendrick Motorsports elevates Carlson to president, COO

The title of president has remained vacant since October 2004, when owner Rick Hendrick's brother, John Hendrick, passed away.

Carlson became executive vice president and general manager within the organization on January 24, 2005 and Hendrick Motorsports has since won four NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championships. He will continue to oversee the day- to-day operations in his expanded role.

Formula One extends deal with Monaco

Jack Roush hospitalized following plane crash

Roush was landing his Hawker Beechcraft Premier jet when the crash took place around 6:15 p.m. local time. He was taken to a local hospital and was listed in serious, but stable condition.

He was in town for the annual Experimental Aircraft Association's annual AirVenture.

Massa returns to Hungary one year after crash

Days after their controversial 1-2 finish in the German Grand Prix, Ferrari is hoping its momentum continues for this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix, but without any dispute.

Fernando Alonso claimed the victory at Hockenheim, but his teammate, Felipe Massa, was robbed of a potential win after his Ferrari team instructed him to move aside and allow Alonso to take the lead with 20 laps remaining.

Trucks make inaugural visit to Pocono

The Camping World Truck Series will compete at Pocono Raceway for the first time this weekend. The series' inaugural stop at Pocono marks the final track currently hosting a Sprint Cup race at which trucks have yet to compete.

This will not be the first time the series competes in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Pocono has been Hamlin's house lately. He won here one year ago and then again in June. If he wins Sunday's 500-mile race, he will become the third driver to score three consecutive victories at Pocono.
