  • Pit road mishaps plague Penske teams

Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - While Dario Franchitti continued to dominate three quarters of the way through the Indianapolis 500, the three Team Penske drivers have struggled in the race.

Helio Castroneves had dropped from second to fifth before the latest round of green-flagpitstops.

After histeam made a front-wing adjustment, Castroneves' car stalled as he exited his stall. It took several seconds to refire, as the defending Indy 500 champion lost valuable track position. He was running 17th after 150 laps were completed.

Ryan Briscoe had been running among the top-10 throughout the race, but after Briscoe made his pit stop, he got loose coming out of turn four and slammed into the frontstretch wall. Briscoe is now listed out of the race in 23rd.

Earlier in the race, Will Power, the current points leader, encountered a pit road mistake during his first stop. He left his stall with part of the fuel hose attached to his car. Power had to return to pit road for a pass-through penalty and fell back to 25th. He moved back into the top-10 in the late- stages.

Franchitti, the defending IZOD IndyCar Series champion and 2007 Indy 500 winner, has led 134 of 150 laps.
