  • Vettel dominant in European GP win

Valencia, Spain (Sports Network) - Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel gave his world championship hopes a huge boost by winning Sunday's European Grand Prix in dominating fashion.

Vettel started on the pole and led all 57 laps around the 3.367-mile Valencia street circuit for his second win of the season and the seventh of his Formula One career.

While Vettel took the victory, his teammate, Mark Webber, was involved in a horrifying crash early in the race when he slammed into the back of Heikki Kovalainen. Webber's car went airborne and landed upside down before he made hard contact with the tire barrier. He walked away from the incident uninjured.

Lewis Hamilton from McLaren finished second, despite serving a drive-through penalty for overtaking the safety car, as it came out of pit lane following Webber and Kovalainen's crash.

Hamilton's teammate, Jenson Button, came in third, while William's Rubens Barrichello, the defending race winner, and Robert Kubica from Renault rounded out the top-five.

Hamilton remained the championship leader with 127 points, compared to 121 for Button and Webber's 115.
