  • Rookie Dillon captures Texas pole

    Fort Worth, TX (Sports Network) - Rookie Austin Dillon claimed his first career Camping World Truck Series pole after winning Thursday's qualifying for the WinStar World Casino 400k at Texas Motor Speedway.

    Dillon, the 20-year-old grandson of NASCAR multi-team owner Richard Childress, turned a lap of 178.654 m.p.h.

    for his first pole in just his 10th truck start.

    Matt Crafton qualified 0.03 seconds behind Dillon to secure the outside pole. James Buescher took the third spot, followed by Todd Bodine and Ricky Carmichael.

    Bodine has the most truck victories at Texas with five, including a win here one year ago.

    Jason White, Ron Hornaday Jr., the four-time and defending series champion, Ken Schrader, Johnny Sauter and Aric Almirola completed the top-10.

    All 36 drivers who attempted qualifying made the field.

    Friday's 400-kilometer truck race is scheduled to begin around 9 p.m. (et).
