  • Blackhawks sign Cullimore, four others

    Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - The Chicago Blackhawks have signed defenseman Jassen Cullimore to a one-year contract.

    In addition, the Stanley Cup champs also inked goaltender Hannu Toivonen and forwards Evan Brophey, Nathan Davis and Hugh Jessiman to one-year deals.

    Cullimore played with Chicago's American Hockey League affiliate in Rockford last season and notched two goals with eight assists in 59 games. The 38-year- old veteran has appeared in 776 NHL games and won a Stanley Cup with Tampa Bay in the spring of 2004.

    Toivonen was acquired by the Blackhawks on March 1 in a trade with St. Louis and appeared in six games for Rockford last year, posting a record of 1-4-0 with a 3.44 goals-against average.

    The 25-year-old native of Finland has a mark of 18-24-10 with a 3.37 GAA in 61 NHL games for Boston and St. Louis.

    Brophey, 23, was selected by Chicago in the third round of the 2005 draft, while the 24-year-old Davis was a second-round pick in 2005. Jessiman spent last season with Milwaukee of the AHL.
