  • Blues' D Johnson has ACL surgery

    St.

Louis, MO (Sports Network) - The St. Louis Blues announced Wednesday that defenseman Erik Johnson underwent season-ending surgery for a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

    Dr.

Michael Stuart, chief medical officer for USA Hockey, performed the surgery and said Johnson expects to make a full recovery.

Johnson tore two ligaments in the knee during a summer golf outing when his right foot got caught between the accelerator and the brake of his golf cart.

The first overall pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Johnson enjoyed a solid rookie campaign in 2007-08, registering five goals and 33 points in 69 games for the Blues.
