  • Former Lions QB Among NFL Europe Award Winners

    Hatboro, PA (Sports Network) - Quarterback SCOTT DREISBACH of the Detroit Lions, cornerback DELVIN BROWN of the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets cornerback JAMES ROOTHS are the NFL Europe League Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for games played the first week of the season (April 13-14).

    Dreisbach completed 17 of 26 attempts for 227 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions for the Scottish Claymores in a 45-17 victory over the F.C. Barcelona Dragons. He finished the game with a 131.4 passer rating.

    Dreisbach guided an offensive attack that set a Kickoff Weekend record for most points scored and turned a 10-7 halftime advantage into a 28-point victory.

    Brown earned defensive honors for his role in the Frankfurt Galaxy's 27-24 overtime win over the Berlin Thunder.

    Brown had one sack, one interception, one forced fumble and totaled five tackles. His sack in overtime forced a fumble that led to Frankfurt's game-winning 29-yard field goal by kicker OLA KIMRIN. Kimrin was also honored as the NFL Europe League National Player of the Week for his efforts.

    Rooths earned Special Teams Player of the Week honors for his role in the Claymores' victory. Rooths returned two kickoffs for 104 yards. His 54-yard return on the opening kickoff of the second half led to a touchdown three plays later. Rooths also returned an interception 69 yards for a touchdown to conclude the scoring.
