Louis, MO (Sports Network) - St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson will not play Sunday against the Chicago Bears because of a strained right thigh muscle.
Jackson was hurt during the October 19 game against Dallas, despite rushing for 160 yards and three touchdowns, and has now missed four of the Rams' last five games.

The Cowboys announced on Thursday that Jones, who had been explosive out of the backfield and in the return game early in the season, developed the injury while rehabbing his injured left hamstring. The Arkansas product has been out since Dallas' 24-20 loss to Arizona in Week 6 with the hamstring injury.
Jones made an immediate impact on the Cowboys offense this season, rushing 30 times for 266 yards -- an average of 8.9 yards per carry -- with three touchdowns. Jones averaged 27.1 yards per kick return, and took one back 98 yards for a touchdown in Dallas' 41-37 win over the Eagles in Week 2.

Jackson injured his right hamstring in practice on Wednesday. The 29-year-old has 11 catches for 84 yards and one touchdown for the Broncos this season. Both the catches and yardage were career highs for Jackson, who has played sparingly during his six years in the league, all in Denver.
Mustard, 31, has 12 career catches for 123 yards in his five-year career. He was released by the Broncos earlier this season. The North Dakota product is in his third campaign with Denver after two seasons with the Cleveland Browns.

Quinn, who has started the last two games for the Browns, has a small fracture in the tip of the finger on his throwing hand, suffered when he hit another player's helmet in Monday's 29-27 win over the Buffalo Bills.
The second-year quarterback was examined by a hand specialist, who cleared him to play. Quinn will wear a splint on the finger when he's not practicing or playing.

Pittsburgh opens Week 12 with a one-game advantage on its only meaningful competition, the 6-4 Baltimore Ravens, in the AFC North.
The Steelers moved a game up on Baltimore on Sunday, outlasting the Chargers, 11-10, in a thriller won on a 32-yard Jeff Reed field goal with 11 seconds to play. In a game played partially in snowy conditions, Pittsburgh managed to beat the Bolts despite not being credited with a touchdown on the day.

After a season of relative calm for the mercurial wideout following a turbulent offseason, Johnson will sit out Thursday night's game in Pittsburgh for the unspecified violation.
The Bengals made the announcement in a statement from the team's hotel, and said there would be no other announcement until after the game.

According to the Arizona Republic, James, through his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, asked the organization for his release two weeks ago, and the Cardinals have refused.
James, the fourth overall pick in the 1999 NFL draft, was benched on November 2 at St. Louis in favor of rookie Tim Hightower and has carried the ball just three times for five yards during Arizona's three-game winning streak.

Adam Jones was suspended indefinitely without pay by the league for an alcohol-related altercation with a personal security guard at a Dallas hotel. He was suspended at least four games for violating his reinstatement arrangement, which expected the 25-year-old to refrain from any behavior that put him, his team or the league in a negative light.
Before the season, Goodell reinstated Jones, formerly known by his nickname "Pacman," after being suspended for the entire 2007 season for off-the-field conduct.

Campbell, a 10-year veteran out of Michigan, caught 12 passes for 121 yards and two scores in nine contests before suffering an injury to his left knee in Sunday's victory at Kansas City.
Stecker has played through a lingering hamstring injury for most of the season, logging just 43 yards on eight carries in six games. The nine-year veteran is one of the club's five season-long captains.

Coach Brad Childress said on Wednesday that, while Allen will be fined $25,000, the player will not be punished further. Allen was summoned to the league office Tuesday to talk about his play.
Allen was fined $50,000 for two late hits earlier this month on Houston quarterback Matt Schaub, one that injured his knee. The following week against Green Bay, Allen was called for roughing the passer on a helmet-to-helmet hit on Rodgers.

Miller has missed the last two games with an ankle injury. The fourth-year tight end has 21 catches for 240 yards and one touchdown for the Steelers this season.
Matt Spaeth, who has taken Miller's place in the lineup, has been limited in practice this week with a wrist injury.

Chatman was carted off the field late in the second quarter of Sunday's game. On 3rd-and-16 at the Cincinnati 41, Chatman took the pass from Ryan Fitzpatrick and ran for an 11-yard gain before he was hit by Eagles safety Quintin Mikell.
Mikell and Chatman knocked helmets, and the receiver's arms went limp as soon as he was hit. Chatman, who fumbled on the play, stayed down and the game was stopped so medical personnel could attend to the sixth-year receiver.

Hill completed 15-of-20 passes for 213 yards with two touchdowns and ran for a score in San Francisco's 35-16 win over St. Louis. Hill racked up a career- high 142.3 passer rating while leading the Niners to a 35-3 halftime lead, the most first-half points scored by the club since 1992.
San Francisco's 28 points in the second quarter tied the franchise mark for most scored in any quarter.

Manning earned the offensive honor for the second time this season and for the 18th time in his career after completing 30-of-46 passes for 320 yards with two touchdowns in a 33-27 victory over Houston. He amassed 300 yards for the 45th time in his illustrious career and surpassed Fran Tarkenton for seventh on the all-time completions list.
Harrison garnered the defensive award for the second time in his career after two plays led directly to scores in Pittsburgh's 11-10 win over San Diego. His sack on Philip Rivers resulted in a safety and an interception led to a field goal.

The Bucs also signed running back Noah Herron and linebacker Matt McCoy on Wednesday.

The Cardinals only hurdle left is beating teams in their former division.
Arizona is a perfect 4-0 this year versus its fellow NFC West opponents, including a sweep of its three road games versus San Francisco, St. Louis and Seattle, respectively. In those four contests, the Cards are averaging 28 points per game.

Then again, the Eagles didn't win this past Sunday's matchup with the perennial pushover Cincinnati Bengals, either. The two clubs instead battled to the NFL's first tied contest in six years, a 13-13 deadlock that was highlighted by mistakes and missed opportunities for the visiting Birds.
Philadelphia outgained the Bengals by a 391-282 advantage in total yards, yet were a Shayne Graham missed field goal on the game's penultimate play from enduring a most ignominious defeat to a wayward Cincinnati squad that had won just once in its first nine tries of 2008.

Granted that the one-win Chiefs weren't the most challenging of tests, but Sunday's 30-20 road victory did provide a jolt of encouragement for a second- half resurgence for New Orleans. The Saints were efficient on offense, stingy on defense at crucial points of the game, and for the most part steered clear of the self-inflicted breakdowns which too often have plagued them over the last 2 1/2 months.
New Orleans also finally broke into the win column on the road for the first

The defensive end's score was the first of his career but also Green Bay's ninth return touchdown of the season, a new team record. It was also the Packers' seventh defensive score of the season, also a new team best.
Green Bay's defense and special teams unit have been finding the end zone a couple of different ways this season. A whopping six of those scores have come off interceptions, while cornerback Will Blackmon has returned two punts to the house this year. Add in Hunter's fumble return, and it equals a record campaign with six weeks still to go.

At the same time, however, you won't find a large number of Super Bowl winners that didn't at least score some offensive points to complement the work of their defenses.
And that's the rub for the Pittsburgh Steelers, who field arguably the best and most feared defense in the league at the moment but might not have the offensive attack to carry them into February.

The Tennessean reported Tuesday that White will need to attend an anger management class, though the case will be thrown out if White avoids unlawful situations for the next year.

The Texans have at least eight losses in every season since their 2002 inception year and fell to 3-7 this season after Sunday's 33-27 loss to the AFC South-rival Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. Head coach Gary Kubiak must have had steam coming out of his ears after his team failed to earn a measure of revenge against an Indianapolis squad that rallied from a 17-point deficit to beat Houston on October 5.
The Texans have displayed flashes of brilliance this season in tough losses to Jacksonville, the Colts and Minnesota, and at least they were able to beat the upstart Dolphins and the lowly Lions and Bengals. Still, the proverbial clock conti

The way Denver had played defense this season, there was great reason to believe that a young but dangerous Falcons offense would do whatever it wished in Week 11, and that limiting Jay Cutler and the powerful Broncos attack to 24 might just mean a double-digit victory for the home team.
When Mike Shanahan's club opened the game without All-Pro cornerback Champ Bailey and minus 100 percent of its opening day starting linebacker corps, fantasy owners of Falcons stars like Roddy White and Michael Turner had to be licking their chops, too.
