  • Smith, Windsor & Rogers earn weekly honors

Courtesy of Arena Football League Tulsa, OK (Sports Network) - Chicago full back CLIFTON SMITH, Arizona wide receiver ROD WINDSOR and Chicago defensive back NYGEL ROGERS have been named the JLS Ironman, Russell Athletic Offensive Player and Riddell Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, for Week 4 of 2010, the AFL's first season back after taking a year hiatus. In addition to these three awards, the AFL is also highlighting the player who makes the best catch of the week, the playmaker of the week, and the highlight of the week. The Cutters Catch of the Week Award for Week 4 goes to Milwaukee wide receiver DAMIAN HARRELL, while Tulsa's wide receiver DONOVAN MORGAN has been named the Playmaker of the Week. The highlight of the week award has gone to Arizona's wide receiver ANTHONY MIX.

JLS IRONMAN OF THE WEEK Smith (6-2, 250, Syracuse) put up serious numbers for the Rush in Week 4 when they defeated the Utah Blaze, 63-40. Smith tallied two tackles, one tackle for loss, a forced fumble, a blocked field goal and a sack. Currently, Smith leads the league with three sacks on the season. Smith also had a rushing touchdown following a possession where he absolutely dominated the Utah offense. With the game tied at 7, Smith sacked Utah QB Brett Elliot. Then, on fourth down, he blocked the Blaze's field goal attempt to get the ball back in Chicago's hands, and ran the ball in for the score on the ensuing play to give the Rush a 14-7 lead.

RUSSELL ATHLETIC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK Windsor (6-2, 210, Western New Mexico) was an unstoppable force last weekend in Arizona's one-point victory over the Tulsa Talons. He grabbed 16 receptions for 230 yards and six of QB Nick Davila's eight touchdown passes. He also rushed twice for seven yards and two touchdowns. His 48 points scored against the Talons is a Rattlers record, breaking the previous record of 42 set in 1997. In the Rattlers' first three games of the season, Windsor has made 10+ receptions for 100+ yards and at least one touchdown in each game. Windsor is on pace to score 48 receiving touchdowns in 2010, shattering the Rattler rookie record of 30 as well as overall Rattler record of 45. Windsor is also leading the league in receptions (40) and receiving yards (513).

RIDDELL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK Rogers (6-1, 195, Appalachian State) was a key player in Chicago's impenetrable defense in Week 4. Rogers tallied eight total tackles (6 unassisted, 4 assisted), second most in the game for Chicago. Rogers also grabbed an errant pass from Utah's QB Brett Elliot, the Rush's only forced turnover of the game. It was Rogers' fifth interception of the season, a league high. In addition, Rogers was credited with three passes defended. His average of 2.3 passes defended per game is good for fourth best in the league.
