  • Sylvester retains title after fighting to draw with Karmazin

Neubrandenburg, Germany (Sports Network) - Sebastian Sylvester retained his IBF middleweight belt after a controversial draw against Roman Karmazin.

Sylvester (33-3-1, 16 KOs) kept the belt after a bizarre set of scorecards among the judges.

One judge had the fight 117-111 in favor of Karmazin (40-3-2, 26 KOs), while another had it 118-111 in favor of Sylvester. The third scored it 114-114.

At the end of the match, a member of Karmazin's camp ignited a brawl ringside in protest of the 114-114 card.

Additionally, Steve Cunningham claimed the vacant IBF cruiserwright title after recording a fifth-round stoppage over Troy Ross.

The referee stopped the fight late in the fifth due to a cut under the left eye of Ross (23-2, 16 KOs). Cunningham (23-2, 12 KOs) took over the belt for the second time.
