Kevin McKenna resigned as bench boss for the Sycamores on Monday to take a an assistant coaching position at Oregon.

"It is with great joy and expectations that I have announced coach Greg Lansing as the new head men's basketball coach at Indiana State University," said director of athletics Ron Prettyman. "Greg has been a vital component in the resurgence of our program both times he has been on the staff. This time he will get a chance to lead the program to a new level of excellence." Lansing served as associate head coach at ISU for the past three seasons and is in his second stint with the school. He was an assistant at Iowa for seven years and had previously served as an assistant for four seasons at ISU.

McKenna spent three seasons guiding the Sycamores, as his teams went 43-52, including a 17-15 mark last season that gave the team its first postseason appearance since 2001 with a trip to the College Basketball Invitational. He was named the 24th men's basketball coach in school history on March 29, 2007.

"I would like to announce that I am resigning my position as head men's basketball coach at Indiana State University, effective immediately," said McKenna.

The procedure was performed on Friday at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.

Howland has been UCLA's coach since 2003, and guided the Bruins to three consecutive Final Four appearances (2006-08).

The revelation comes in the midst of a huge shift in the college landscape, as Colorado has announced its intentions to leave the Big 12 Conference for the Pac-10, while Nebraska is expected to bolt for the Big Ten as early as Friday, causing many to question the viability of the Big 12 going forward.
