  • Mariners' Bedard to have surgery again

    Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - Oft-injured Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Erik Bedard will have left shoulder surgery on Friday.

    It will be the lefty's third surgery in as many years on his pitching shoulder, and this procedure will be performed by team medical director Dr. Edward Khalfayan and the famed Dr. Lewis Yocum.

    Bedard's last surgery came on August 14, 2009 to repair a torn laburn. He has yet to pitch this season while rehabilitating the injury.

    His last major league appearances came on July, 25, 2009.

    Since the Mariners traded for Bedard, he has been a huge bust, pitching in only 30 games from 2008-10. In that timeframe, he is 11-7 with a 3.24 ERA.

    Over seven seasons in the majors, the first five with Baltimore, Bedard is 51-41 with a 3.71 ERA.
