  • MLB suspends two minor leaguers

    New York, NY (Sports Network) - Minor league pitchers Mariano Chevalier of the Chicago White Sox and Richard Rodriguez of the Houston Astros were each suspended by Major League Baseball for 50 games after testing positive for a performance-enhancingsubstance in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

    Both players are members of their organization's Dominican summer league teams and had tested positive for metabolites of Stanozolol.

    Chevalier, 19, has gone 3-1 with a 4.36 earned run average in nine games -- four starts -- for his club and will begin his suspension immediately.

    Rodriguez, 20, is 2-1 with a 2.00 ERA in five starts and is currently on the disqualified list. He will begin his ban upon his reinstatement.
