  • Arizona's Reynolds exits game after being hit in head with pitch

Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Arizona third baseman Mark Reynolds left Tuesday's game against the Washington Nationals after he was hit in the head with a fastball while batting in the sixth inning.

Nationals reliever Collin Balester faced Reynolds and, with a 1-1 count, fired a 95-m.p.h. fastball directly at Reynolds' head. Reynolds was motionless on the ground in the batter's box for a few moments, but eventually walked to the dugout under his own power.

Reynolds leads the D'Backs with 25 home runs this season. In the fourth inning of this game, he belted a three-run homer to give Arizona the lead.
