Miami-Florida wins suspended game, moves to Super Regionals
Coral Gables, FL (Sports Network) - Harold Martinez drove in three runs as Miami-Florida used a burst of offense in the middle innings to down Texas A&M, 10-3, in the Coral Gables Regional of the College World Series.
Frankie Ratcliff and Yasmani Grandal also knocked in a pair each for the Hurricanes, who advance to face Florida in a best-of-three Super Regional in Gainesville after totaling seven runs in the fifth through seventh innings.
Chris Hernandez picked up the win in relief, allowing one hit over two full innings. Starter Eric Whaley yielded five hits and two runs before rain halted play.
Kevin Gonzalez finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and Caleb Shofner drove in the other run for the Aggies, who had beaten Miami-Florida by an 11-7 count on Sunday.
Starter Ross Stripling took the loss, charged with two hits and three runs and three walks over two innings.
The game had been suspended due to rain in the bottom of the second inning with the Hurricanes were ahead 3-2.
Miami went up by two on a Martinez groundout in the fourth, then put up three in the sixth on Scott Lawson's RBI single, and RBI doubles from Grandal and Martinez.
A single, throwing error and wild pitch gave the 'Canes three more runs in the seventh, and the Aggies didn't respond until Gonzalez knocked in Adam Smith in the ninth.
